Ham and Beans
1 smoked ham hock
1 small yellow onion
1 lb Great Northern beans - dry
Put the ham hock in a crock pot with 6 cups of water. Cook on high for 4 hours. While the meat cooks, soak the beans.
Take the hock out, let it cool until you can handle it, and shred the meat from the bone. Put the meat and the bone back into the crock pot.
Add the beans and the chopped-up onion along with another 3 to 4 cups of water.
Cook for another two hours. Salt and pepper to taste.
